Is an auditioned choir consisting of singers grades 6 to 12 from Winnipeg and the surrounding area.

Led by husband & wife team Garth and Lisa Rempel, Rhapsody strives to provide a unique opportunity for young singers to experience eclectic music through a combination of choral excellence, culture and movement.

In the fall of 2011, Lisa, a graduating member of the original choir, and her husband Garth stepped up to take over the directorship and bring the Winnipeg Youth Chorus back into action.

Selection Process

New Singers for this choir are selected through an audition process. For more information about auditions, click here.

Chickadee members who are nearing the eligibility age to move into Rhapsody will be evaluated for readiness by the Music Team and placed accordingly. Some singers may be kept in the Chickadees an extra year as appropriate.

Rehearsals

When:  Wednesday Nights from 6:45 pm – 8:45 pm
Where: Collège Miles Macdonell Collegiate – 757 Roch Street

Uniforms

  • Uniform shirt (provided)
  • Rehearsal shirt (provided)
  • Black Pants (not provided)
  • Black closed-toe, flat shoes (not provided)
  • Black socks (not provided)

Tuition

Tuition for Resound is $700.00

Tuition is payable in a lump sum or multiple payments throughout the year.

Tuition includes all applicable expenses for a chorister throughout the year.  This includes costs related to accompanists, music directors, uniforms, weekend retreats, insurance, rehearsal space, music and music supplies, equipment and engineering costs, and administrative expenses.

    How old do I need to be to sing in Rhapsody?

    You need to be in grades 6-12

    When is Camp for Rhapsody?

    Camps are held in November and April.  Attendance at camp is mandatory.  Each camp makes up approximately the equivalent of 5 regular rehearsals

    Are there additional rehearsals for Rhapsody?

    Additional Saturday rehearsals may be scheduled throughout the year and are scheduled close to concert dates and used as dress rehearsals.  These dates are provided as early as possible in order to help you plan ahead to ensure attendance.

    Are there additional performances throughout the season for Rhapsody?

    The choir does get hired to perform at events throughout the year.  Information will be sent to choristers as early as possible to allow for planning.  These performances could occur any day / evening of the week.
